Kindness is a generosity of spirit. It comes to life when we give of ourselves and our time to be of help to others without expecting anything in return. By showing goodness someone brings the best of yourself, and a side effect of brightening up the other day is to feel happier at the moment.
Pay attention the impact their behavior has on others, and consider your own feelings, in association with their reactions. And think of how you feel when someone shows you kindness. What again give you an even greater amount. When you are kind, not just get an immediate payback in terms of a sense of comfort, will also receive the kindness of others, and completely unexpected and unrelated.
This is so easy to find a way to be kind to others: to say something in support instinctively feel when someone has to listen, offer help without being asked to do so; encouraging smile, swallow their criticisms, listening without judging, let mistakes slide instead of assigning blame, make small sacrifices for the benefit of someone in greater need.
A great rule of thumb I apply to my life do unto others like me do unto me, and make myself as would others. The last part is as important as the first. It is good to be consistently friendly with others and forget to be yourself. You will run out of steam, and feel less able to show kindness to others if not reload your own mind, body and spirit on a regular basis.
Being kind to yourself means getting your needs, be gentle with yourself instead of criticism when you feel you is acting at its best, forgive yourself when the need arises instead of beating yourself. When you get into the habit of treating yourself with kindness, becomes much easier to extend the review and the behavior of others.
